12/8: Human Rights Across the World

Tuesday, December 8th, 6:30 pm Reception, 7:30 pm Panel followed by discussion @ Waite House Community Center, 2529 13th Ave S, Minneapolis

On Thursday, December 10th President Obama will receive the Nobel Peace Prize, meanwhile the US is occupying both Afghanistan and Iraq, expanding military bases in Colombia, and funding Israel’s occupation of the Palestine.  Come hear about US foreign policy across the world and discuss how we can build a movement to end US human rights abuses across the globe.

The panel will include Sami Rasouli, Iraqi American who is here from the Muslim Peacemakers Team in Iraq, Gerardo Cajamarca, an trade unionist asylee from Colombia, and Meredith Aby, a member of the Anti- War Committee, who will address the destructive role of the US occupation of Afghanistan.

Sami Rasouli will be returning to Najaf, Iraq within days of this event.  You are invited to a reception with light appetizers before the panel to say good-bye to Sami and to wish him luck with his work with the Muslim Peacemakers Team.  Proceeds from the event will go with Sami to Iraq.
