About the
Anti-War Committee

We meet every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at 4200 Cedar Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55407.
New members are always welcome. Masks are required.

The Minnesota Anti-War Committee (AWC) began in December 1998 with 13 people committing civil disobedience to protest the U.S. bombing of Iraq. Since then we have organized protests, marches, educational forums, street theater, and civil disobedience actions to challenge the injustices of U.S. foreign policy. We believe in peace through justice, and we stand in solidarity with oppressed people here and abroad.

We are deeply committed to the fight for a free Palestine. We do that through protesting against U.S. military aid to Israel and advocating for the state of MN to divest from weapons manufacturers and companies that profit from their complicity with apartheid Israel.

While we continue to organize against U.S. military intervention in Iraq, we have also worked to stop other U.S. wars including in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Syria. We have led protests against U.S. military aid to Israel and Colombia and have sent AWC members to Palestine, Colombia, Venezuela and Syria on human rights delegations to bring back stories of the impact of U.S. intervention. During the Trump administration we led organizing against his anti-Muslim bigotry and xenophobia.  Currently our main campaign is to end U.S. aid to Israel.

After the FBI raided our office and the homes of many of our members and friends in September 2010 we began to focus more work against political repression. We were targeted for our anti-war and international solidarity activism, but refused to cooperate with the investigation because being anti-war is not a crime!

The Anti-War Committee is a women- and queer-led committee and is committed to justice in this country. We support the Black Lives Matter movement and an end to racist police violence. We walk with workers on the picket lines and support the struggles for economic justice at home and abroad.
