Foreclose the War – Not People’s Homes Rally

“Foreclose the war, not people’s homes” will be call of Thursday rally in Minneapolis.
The Anti-War Committee will sponsor a rally Thursday, August 27 to show support for Minneapolis homeowner Rosemary Williams and her fight against foreclosure and eviction. The rally will call for a moratorium on foreclosures and evictions and for the billions being spent on U.S. wars and occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan to be used instead to keep people in their homes.
The rally, organized under the call of “Foreclose the war, not people’s homes”, will be held in front of the Williams home at 32nd Street and Clinton Ave. South in Minneapolis starting at 5:00 pm.
A statement issued by organizers says, in part, “As people like Rosemary Williams fight to keep their homes, the U.S. government continues to fund wars and occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan. We will gather Thursday at the Williams’’ home to call for an end to the wars and occupations and for the billions spent on those wars and occupations be used for housing and other human needs.”
The Thursday rally has been organized by the Anti-War Committee and endorsed by Women Against Military Madness, Students for a Democratic Society-U of M and Iraq Peace Action Coalition.
