Join us for a call-in day to express support for Palestine solidarity activists facing charges for protesting Israeli military “ethicist” Moshe Halbertal’s talk at the University of Minnesota Law School.
The legal director for national pro-Israel organization StandWithUs has been in communication with the city attorney’s office, calling for prosecution to the “full extent of the law.” StandWithUs has organized two witnesses to testify against protesters, providing contact information for both the founder and sitting president of the U of M’s Students in Support of Israel (SSI) who helped organize the talk. StandWithUs went further in their statement to the city attorney, highlighting activities of protesters who were not arrested, suggesting additional people should be charged. Two Anti-War Committee activists, Misty & Sophia, have court on Wednesday, and before that, the City Attorney needs to hear from our supporters too! Call and urge them not to prosecute charges brought by the University of Minnesota Law School, and expose the dirty tactics of Zionists seeking to silence those demanding justice for Palestine. For more information on the protest for which activists are facing charges, see: http://antiwarcommittee.org/2015/11/10/anti-war-committee-statement-on-the-november-3rd-protest-against-war-crimes-apologist-moshe-halbertal/.
***Call City Attorney Susan Segal at (612) 673-2010. Phone number is general 311 for City of Minneapolis, but they can forward you to City Attorney’s Office.***
Sample Call Script:
“Hello, my name is ______ to ask that the city of Minneapolis drop the prosecution of Palestine solidarity activists Melissa Rowan and Sophia Hansen-Day for their participation in a November 3 protest at the U of M Law School. The Law School has a history of inviting Zionist speakers to campus while failing to share Palestinian perspectives, and the protesters brought a much-needed balance to that discussion. I understand that the organization StandWithUs that has contacted your office, and want you to know they are just an “education non-profit,” but actually an unabashedly pro-Israeli apartheid organization not based here in the Twin Cities. Melissa Rowan and Sophia Hanson-Day spoke up here, in their own community, because they believed a war crimes apologist should not be given a platform at our publicly-funded state university. I support them, and ask you to drop the charges against them. Thank you.”
