Call Congress: Say NO to Sanctions on Iran!

Call Congress:  Say NO to Sanctions on Iran!

Tuesday and Wednesday, August 21 and 22

  • Senator Tina Smith (202- 224-5641)
  • Senator Amy Klobuchar (202-224-3244)

The Trump administration re-imposed sanctions against Iran on August 7th.  It is important to look at this action within the broader context of increasing antagonism by the U.S. towards Iran.  Particularly, Trump has withdrawn the U.S. from participation in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly known as the Iran Nuclear Deal, and has met frequently with the Prime Minister of Israel who repeatedly calls for U.S. military aggression against Iran.

The U.S. also intervenes in the lives of Iranians by sabotaging Iran economically through sanctions.  These sanctions are collective punishment and are meant to push CIA-supported forces towards overthrowing the Iranian government.   Trump’s ban against Iranians wishing to travel and live in the U.S., another act of collective punishment, is an anti-Muslim provocation.  The sanctions and the Muslim ban are part of, and support, the increasing military threats by the Trump administration.

Please call Senator Tina Smith (202- 224-5641) and Senator Amy Klobuchar (202-224-3244) to tell them to resist Trump’s sanctions against Iran.  Demand that they take a stand against U.S. war and intervention on Iran.  They are both up for re-election and we should let them know that their foreign policy positions are important to us!

We also encourage you to ask both Senators Smith and Klobuchar at the MN State Fair about their lack of resistance to Trump’s threats on Iran!
