The Intercept reports on November 29th “In a firm rebuke of President Donald Trump’s Saudi Arabia policy, the Republican-controlled Senate voted 63-37 on Wednesday to advance a piece of legislation that would direct the president to withdraw U.S. forces from assisting the Saudi-led intervention in Yemen.”
The Mint Press reports that since 2015, “the ongoing Saudi-led military campaign against Yemen has resulted in the death of 15,185 civilians, including 3,527 children and 2,277 women, according to the Legal Center for Rights and Development in Yemen.” Civilians have been facing a serious humanitarian crisis due to a Saudi blockade of food and medical aid which has led the Yemeni people to live in widespread famine. The U.S. continues to provide support and sell arms to Saudi forces who have targeted everything from markets, to schools, school busses and homes, all while refusing to denounce the inhumanity that has claimed so many civilian casualties.
The murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, has caught the international community’s attention and given us an opportunity to kick up our challenge to the US-Saudi Arabia war in Yemen. The Congress is finally questioning supporting this war – they NEED TO HEAR FROM US! Please call and encourage others to do so too!
