As the Trump administration intensifies its sanctions and backs a coup in the sovereign state of
Venezuela, it is as important as ever to stand against the US’s aggressive foreign policy in Latin America. It is especially critical to understand the history of the grassroots people’s movements that led to the the current political structure of Venezuela, and why this structure draws the ire of the United States.
Katrina Kozarek has lived and worked in Venezuela since 2004 as a documentary filmmaker and activist in community media with the National Association of Community Free and Alter-
native Media (ANMCLA) and popular feminism with Movimiento Mujeres por La Vida. She is also currently a member of the English language website Venezuelanalysis.com as an audiovisual reporter.
