SUMMARY:Action Alert: Call In Campaign to the Minneapolis City Council
DESCRIPTION:bit.ly/MPLSceasefirecallin \nOn Monday\, January 8th\, the Minneapolis city council was set to vote on a ceasefire resolution calling for a permanent ceasefire in Palestine. The council voted to refer the resolution to committee to allow for possible amendments to the language. As it stands\, this ceasefire resolution is the most progressive resolution in the country. It is imperative that we urge the council to be steadfast in their aim to pass a resolution that does not water down the language of genocide\, focuses on Israel’s crimes against Palestinians\, calls for Minnesota to divest from companies complicit in the genocide of Palestinians\, and demands an end to U.S. aid to Israel.  \n\nJoin us in calling your city council member to urge them to pass the ceasefire resolution. \nFind your ward/council member here.  \nCALL-IN INFORMATION: \nWard 1: Elliott Payne: 612-673-2201 \nWard 2: Robin Wonsley: 612-673-2202 \nWard 3: Michael Rainville: 612-673-2203 \nWard 4: LaTrisha Vetaw: 612-673-2204 \nWard 5: Jeremiah Ellison: 612-673-2205 \nWard 6: Jamal Osman: 612-673-2206 \nWard 7: Katie Cashman: 612-673-2207 \nWard 8: Andrea Jenkins: 612-673-2208 \nWard 9: Jason Chavez: 612-673-2209 \nWard 10: Aisha Chughtai: 612-673-2210 \nWard 11: Emily Koski: 612-673-2211 \nWard 12: Aurin Chowdhury: 612-673-2212 \nWard 13: Linea Palmisano: 612-673-2213 \nIn-favor: Wonsley\, Ellison\, Chavez\, Chughtai\, Payne \nOpposed: Vetaw\, Palmisano \nPosition Unclear: Jenkins\, Cashman\, Chowdhury\, Osman\, Koski\, Rainville \nRegardless of where your council member stands\, it is important to CALL THEM. The qZionists are calling\, so we need to\, as well.  \nNote: if you are calling the council member for your ward\, let them know you are their constituent! You do not have to give your address\, but you can share the neighborhood you live in.  \nCALL-IN SCRIPT \nHello\, my name is ______. I’m reaching out as a concerned resident to urge your support for the ceasefire resolution. It is crucial to acknowledge the severity of the situation\, with over 20\,000 Palestinians having lost their lives since October 7th. The attacks on Palestinians must be accurately labeled for what they are – genocide. Furthermore\, it’s essential to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and avoid endorsing a false equivalency through a “both sides” argument. \nMinneapolis should take a principled stance in favor of justice and human rights. This issue extends beyond mere “foreign policy”; as a resident of Minnesota\, I am aware that my tax dollars are contributing to the funding of this ongoing genocide. I strongly urge the city council to endorse the call for divestment from companies complicit in the occupation of Palestine. Additionally\, I call for the United States to terminate all aid to Israel.  \nMinneapolis has the opportunity to lead the way among cities passing ceasefire resolutions\, and now is the time for bold action.  \nEMAIL INFORMATION: \nWhile we find that calls are the most impactful\, email info is below:\n \nWard 1: Elliott Payne \nWard 2: Robin Wonsley \nWard 3: Michael Rainville \nWard 4: LaTrisha Vetaw \nWard 5: Jeremiah Ellison \nWard 6: Jamal Osman \nWard 7: Katie Cashman \nWard 8: Andrea Jenkins \nWard 9: Jason Chavez \nWard 10: Aisha Chughtai \nWard 11: Emily Koski \nWard 12: Aurin Chowdhury \nWard 13: Linea Palmisano \nEMAIL SCRIPT \nHello\, my name is ______. SUMMARY:Solidarity Forever: From Minneapolis to Venezuela
DESCRIPTION:Solidarity Forever: From Minneapolis to Venezuela \nWednesday\, March 22nd @ 7pm @ 4200 Cedar Ave S\, Minneapolis\nVenezuela has been under US attack for decades. The country has been subjected to crippling US sanctions that have deprived Venezuelans of food and economic stability. The US has even outrageously kidnapped Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab in Cape Verde. He is now held in a Miami jail for the “crime” of importing food past the US blockade. On top of all that\, the US has attempted to overthrow the Venezuelan government six times in just the past two decades.\nUS media is complicit in covering up these heinous violations of international law. Two Anti-War Committee members are returning from the Alliance for Global Justice’s Venezuela delegation to do the reporting that the US media refuses to do. Join us on March 22\, 7pm\, at 4200 Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis for a report-back event and Q&A session\, where our members will discuss their firsthand experience seeing the impact of US sanctions on Venezuela’s struggle for liberation.\nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee

We don’t need a new war\, people need COVID relief\, housing and livable income\, not billions for yet another war. \nInitiated by Minnesota Peace Action Coalition\nEndorsed by: Anti-War Committee\, Women Against Military Madness and others. \n\n\n\nFor more information 612 827-5364

SUMMARY:Call In Day: Take Action for Palestine
DESCRIPTION:Take Action for Palestine! \nTuesday\, December 14th – all day \nContact Senator Amy Klobuchar and Senator Tina Smith and tell them to #STANDWITHTHE6 \nIn October\, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz outlawed six leading Palestinian human rights groups\, labeling them “terrorist organizations”.  No trials were held\, nor were these groups given the opportunity to respond to the accusations against them.  These six groups do essential advocacy work and provide critical assistance to Palestinian civil society.  To read our solidarity statement go to:  https://antiwarcommittee.org/2021/11/01/9433/ \n  \nThe Anti-War Committee joins with civil society organizations in the U.S. and across the globe to denounce the labeling of Palestinian human rights groups as “terrorist organizations”. We call on others to join us in denouncing this action. We commend Minnesota’s Rep. Betty McCullom for her stand against Gantz’ targeting of human rights organizations and her vocal support and partnership with Defense for Children International Palestine in particular. We call Minnesota’s senators to join her and for the U.S. to end aid to Israel. The U.S. should NOT be sending almost $4 billion a year to Israel with its atrocious human rights record! \nSenator Klobuchar \n(202) 224-3244 \nEmail :  https://www.klobuchar.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/email-amy \nSenator Smith \n(202) 224-5641\nEmail:  https://www.smith.senate.gov/share-your-opinion\nPotential message: \nI am writing/calling today to express my concern about Israel’s recent action to criminalize the work of 6 Palestinian civil society organizations and your silence on this important matter.  These groups are working to defend the human rights of Palestinians and are even representing them in the International Criminal Court.  You have voted repeatedly to continue aid of almost 4 billion dollars annually to Israel and Israel is using this money to murder & oppress Palestinians.  I call on Senator ________ to join with Representatives McCullom and Omar in publicly criticizing Israel for their attack on these 6 Palestinian human rights organizations and to stop voting to fund more aid to Israel.   \n

SUMMARY:#646DropTheCharges Protest and Dance Party
DESCRIPTION:#646DropTheCharges Protest and Dance Party \nSaturday. October 16th @  6 PM @ Painter Park\, 620 W 34th St\, Minneapolis \nWe will not be intimidated by the state repression of our right to protest! We will continue to fight together for all charges to be dropped!  Meet us at Painter Park (620 W 34th St\, Minneapolis) at 6 PM for a dance party/protest.  Be safe\, be visible\, wear a mask. \nBring good vibes and revolutionary spirit! \nDemands: \n1) We demand the charges be dropped for all 646+ protesters arrested on 1-94 November 4th 2020. \n2) We demand community control of the police now. We want a publicly elected Civilian Police Accountability Commission in Minneapolis. We want power back in the hands of community members; those killer cops have got to go! \n646 Explained: On November 4\, 2020 hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Minneapolis to demand justice after the murder of #GeorgeFloyd by the #MPD demanding #Trump not steal the election\, demanding a stop to police crimes\, and demanding that our elected officials be responsible to the people. As the demonstration was headed off highway 94 onto 25th Ave S (after getting on at Cedar Ave) the protesters were “kettled” by a combination of heavily armed (and maskless) local and federal police forces including the national guard. The police held protesters on the highway for 6 hours\, blocking both sides of the major highway. The community members were then piled into buses and released at random locations across the metro area\, leaving minors as far as the Mall of America. In this one night 646 peaceful protesters were charged. \nOrganized by Twin Cities Coalition for Justice for Jamar.  Endorsed by the Anti-War Committee.

SUMMARY:Protest Northrup Grumman: End Weapons Sales to Israel!
DESCRIPTION:Protest Northrup Grumman: End Weapons Sales to Israel!\nThursday\, May 27th @ 3pm @ Northrup Grumman\, 4700 Nathan Ln N\, Plymouth\, MN\nJoin us to protest Northrup Grumman’s role as a weapons manufacture here in MN which makes weapons which are being used by Israel in its military attacks on Gaza. In 2017\, it was the fifth largest arms–producing and military services company in the world and the third largest government contractor in the United States. Northrop Grumman made $25.8 billion in total sales in 2017\, of which 85 percent came from U.S. Government sales and 13 percent came from international customers and Foreign Military Sales. Northrop Grumman provides the Israeli military with the Longbow system for Apache AH64D helicopters. The Longbow system\, a joint venture with Lockheed Martin\, consists of the Longbow Hellfire missile (AGM-114L) and a fire-control radar (AN/APG-78). The company also produces key parts for the F-35\, a fighter jet manufactured by Lockheed Martin that Israel acquired through the United States government’s Foreign Military Sales program. Northrop Grumman produces approximately 35% of the Lockheed Martin F-35 aircraft\, including its center fuselage\, radar\, avionics\, electro-optics\, navigation\, communications and identification subsystems\, and mission systems and mission-planning software. The company also manages pilot and maintainer training systems software as well as the team’s use\, support\, and maintenance of low-observable technologies. Northrop Grumman also makes the AN/APG-68(V)9 Multimode Fire Control Radar for the F-16.Northrop Grumman Italia provided the Israeli Air Force with its LISA-200 Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) for a fleet of M-346 advanced trainer aircrafts. The company manufactured and provided Israel with its Sa’ar 5 Eilat Class corvettes\, which are missile ships used to enforce the siege of Gaza.\nFor more information about the role Northrup Grumman has in making weapons for Israel go here: https://investigate.afsc.org/company/northrop-grumman.\nProtest is organized by American Muslims for Palestine\, Anti-War Committee\, Jewish Voice for Peace\, and If Not Now.

We were kettled by the MN National Guard\, State Troopers\, and MPD in an effort to try to scare the movement from future protests. The governor and the mayor are worried that there will be another George Floyd uprising because there has been no change in the system (yet) which killed Floyd and that we will respond with more mass protests. Please call to defend our right to protest and to demand that our charges are dropped. Thanks!\n \nBackground info on the arrests: https://minnesotareformer.com/2020/11/05/state-leaders-face-backlash-over-arresting-hundreds-of-protesters-in-minneapolis/\n\nSample script:\n“My name is [name] and I’m a resident of [city]. I’m calling to demand that all charges be dropped against the 646 protesters who were arrested on November 4 on I-94 in Minneapolis. What would have been a short\, safe march on one direction of highway became a dangerous six-hour ordeal as police surrounded protesters without giving any dispersal warning\, physically blocked protesters from exiting the highway\, closed both lanes of traffic\, assaulted bystanders\, and largely refused to wear masks to help prevent Covid-19 transmission. Many protesters face ‘public nuisance’ charges\, but the real public nuisance was the police decision to escalate the situation with unlawful mass arrests. It will also be a public nuisance to bring these flimsy\, politically motivated charges before the court system which is already backlogged due to the pandemic. These charges are an attempt to intimidate the Black Lives Matter movement out of its First Amendment rights rather than address the ongoing crisis of unaccountable police murders. Drop ALL charges against the I-94 646 immediately.”\nPlease spread the word!  Initiated by the Anti-War Committee.
