Amy Klobuchar’s office\, 1200 S Washington Ave\, Minneapolis \nMINNEAPOLIS – Solidarity groups announced an emergency rally to be held outside the downtown office of Senator Amy Klobuchar to demand an immediate end to US aid to Israel\, following renewed Israeli military strikes on Gaza. \nOn Saturday\, October 7\, Palestinian resistance fighters launched incursions into Israel-occupied territory outside the densely populated Gaza Strip. Footage showed Palestinian bulldozers demolishing the border fence built by Israel to contain Gaza after the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Palestinian-controlled enclave in 2005. In 2018\, the Gaza border fence was the site of the Great March of Return protests\, where hundreds of Palestinian refugees were killed and wounded by Israeli gunfire as they attempted to return to their homeland en masse.  \nIsrael’s controversial far-right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the renewed Palestinian resistance actions by declaring a “state of war\,” vowing to inflict an “unprecedented price” on Gaza. Previous Israeli military attacks on Gaza have been marked by collective punishment of the 2.3 million Palestinians living in the enclave\, through bombings of civilian infrastructure and the blockade of humanitarian supplies from entering. \n“As long as apartheid Israel continues to occupy Palestinian land\, we should expect that Palestinians will resist and fight for the freedom of their nation by any means necessary\,” said Wyatt Miller of the Minnesota Anti-War Committee\, the group initiating the Minneapolis call to action. “Peace can only be achieved through justice\, yet the US continues to send billions in aid to prop up Israel’s unjust regime. It needs to stop.” \nUS President Joe Biden and politicians from both major parties quickly pledged support for Israel in the wake of the renewed fighting. Minnesota’s Senator Amy Klobuchar\, a strong congressional supporter of US aid to Israel\, characterized the Palestinian resistance forces as “terrorists.” \nAs of Saturday afternoon\, emergency Palestine solidarity rallies were being organized in dozens of cities around the world. DESCRIPTION:Al Nakba March and Protest \nSaturday\, May 20th @ 2pm – gather at Bryant Square Park (3101 Bryant Ave S\, Minneapolis) followed by a march through Uptown  \nFor Palestinians\, May 15 marks Al Nakba\, Arabic for The Catastrophe. During the 1948 war\, at least 750\,000 Palestinians were ruthlessly attacked\, massacred\, and driven from their homes by Zionist terror groups\, and have never been allowed to return\, in violation of international law. 2023 marks 75 years of Israeli land theft\, occupation\, and apartheid.  The U.S. has provided over $50 billion in aid to Israel since 1949\, more than to any other country. Our tax dollars are paying for Israel’s occupation.   \nWe are not talking about Al-Nakba as a historic event but one that is ongoing.  We need to raise our voices and march to denounce the Israeli attacks on the Al Aqsa Mosque where worshipers were violating attacked with rubber-coated bullets\, tear gas\, and stun grenades during Ramadan and to denounce bombing attacks on Gaza.  We must protest the ethnic cleansing of the West Bank and Jerusalem by Israel. \nJoin us for our annual Al-Nakba protest to demand: \n\nEnd U.S. aid to Israel\nThe state of MN must divest its over 800 million in state pension funds from Israeli companies and bonds\nSpeaking out for Palestine is not a crime!\n\nActivists from MN will attend the national protest in DC on May 13th so we will have our local action the next weekend on May 20th.    \nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee & American Muslims for Palestine – MN \n

Today\, there are close to five million Palestinian refugees who continue to demand their Right to Return to the homes and lands from which they were exiled.  \nTo commemorate the Nakba\, the U.S. Palestinian Community Network (USPCN) and the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR) have arranged a brief U.S. Nakba Day 75 tour\, to take place from May 15th – May 20th\, featuring Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela\, elected member of the South African National Assembly representing the African National Congress – and grandson of the late Nelson Mandela – as the tour’s keynote speaker.  \nMr. Mandela\, also the tribal chief of the Mvezo Traditional Council\, holds a degree and a post-graduate diploma in Political Science and International Studies from Rhodes University.
