SUMMARY:From Minneapolis to Palestine: Resistance to Apartheid\, Occupation & Police Brutality
DESCRIPTION:From Minneapolis to Palestine: Solidarity Against State Terror\nThursday\, March 24th @ 7pm @ the University of MN – Smith Hall\, Room 231 \nAcross the world\, repression is worsening but the movement is growing. Palestinians are resisting Israel’s efforts to push them out of their homes in Sheik Jarrah. In Minneapolis\, people are rising up against the recent execution of Amir Locke  and anti-Black racism. \nJoin the Minnesota Anti-War Committee\, U of MN Students for Justice in Palestine  and the Twin Cities Coalition for Justice for Jamar for a panel on the multinational resistance from Minneapolis to Palestine during Israeli Apartheid Week. Speakers will address how: \n\n Repression in Palestine and U.S. cities like Minneapolis is connected by the tactics and technology Israel develops and exports to American law enforcement\nThe resistance crosses borders too. Palestinians in the diaspora stand with Black victims of police violence. At the same time we are seeing a global movement to free Palestine grow and gain legitimacy.\nYou can show your solidarity with Palestine and support community control of the police to stop killer cops!\n\nCo-sponsored by Students for Justice with Palestine – U of MN\, Students for Democratic Society – U of MN\, Anti-War Committee and Twin Cities Coalition for Justice for Jamar. \n

SUMMARY:National Day of Protest: NO WAR WITH RUSSIA!
DESCRIPTION:National Day of Protest: NO WAR WITH RUSSIA!\nWednesday\, March 2nd from 4- 5 PM @ Lake St/Marshall Mississippi River Bridge\nIn 1999\, WAMM’s End War Committee partnered with other local activist groups to initiate a weekly vigil on the Lake Street and Marshal Avenue bridge in St.Paul. Originally in response to the U.S. and NATO bombings in Yugoslavia\, the vigil has continued weekly with different U.S. sanctions\, interventions\, and wars to protest. \nEvery Wednesday for over 20 years—rain\, shine or below zero temps—activists in the Twin Cities have gathered to stand in solidarity with all those affected by U.S. militarism and to call for peace. \nThis Wednesday\, we bring together our weekly End War Vigil for a very important\, national cause: together we shout “No War with Russia!” \nPlease wear a mask and maintain social distance! \nSigns provided or bring your own. \nPlease view UNAC’s National Call to Action page to learn more about how you can help. \nSponsored by WAMM’s End War Committee and endorsed by the Anti-War Committee and the MN Peace Action Coalition.

SUMMARY:February Car Caravan against the US Blockade of Cuba
DESCRIPTION:February Car Caravan against the US Blockade of Cuba\nSunday\, February 27th from 11 AM – 1 PM – starting at the South High School parking lot\, 3131 19th Ave So\, Minneapolis\nJoin us at the South High parking lot or watch the live stream on this page.\nSCOTA\, the Minnesota Cuba Committee\, the Anti-War Committee and other sponsors are convening monthly car caravan to protest the U.S. blockade of Cuba. 35 cars participated in last month’s caravan on January 30.\n1:00: Line up and add signs and flags to cars at South High School parking lot\, 3131 19th Ave So\, Minneapolis. Signs and car flags will be available or bring your own. Caravan sponsors will make brief remarks.\n1:30: Caravan begins – left out of parking lot on 21st Street\, left on Lake Street\, right on First Ave. South\, left through Post Office parking lot\, left on Blaisdell and left on Lake back to South High.\n2:30: Brief closing rally at South HIgh parking lot.\nThe lead car will be in contact with participating cars – details will be provided at the rally site. Contact 612-437-0222 for more information or if you’re joining late.\nWhy a caravan?\nFor 60 years (the anniversary was February 3)\, Cuba has endured the economic\, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the U.S. government. Every year this blockade is rejected by a near unanimous vote in the United Nations.\nDuring Trump’s term\, he imposed more than 220 measures to further harm the island’s economy and the Cuban people. President Biden has continued these repressive policies against Cuba and added even more sanctions. The blockade has caused great economic hardship in Cuba\, blocks food imports to Cuba\, and damages Cuba’s health care.\nDemand the U.S. government lift all its economic and political sanctions and end the blockade against Cuba.\nTell Biden and Congress:\n-No Delay\, Lift the U.S. blockade NOW!\n-U.S. stop sanctioning Cuban families!\n-End all travel bans on Cuba!\n#UnblockCuba2022\n#LetCubaLive

SUMMARY:Call In Day: Take Action for Palestine
DESCRIPTION:Take Action for Palestine! \nTuesday\, December 14th – all day \nContact Senator Amy Klobuchar and Senator Tina Smith and tell them to #STANDWITHTHE6 \nIn October\, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz outlawed six leading Palestinian human rights groups\, labeling them “terrorist organizations”.  No trials were held\, nor were these groups given the opportunity to respond to the accusations against them.  These six groups do essential advocacy work and provide critical assistance to Palestinian civil society.  To read our solidarity statement go to:  https://antiwarcommittee.org/2021/11/01/9433/ \n  \nThe Anti-War Committee joins with civil society organizations in the U.S. and across the globe to denounce the labeling of Palestinian human rights groups as “terrorist organizations”. We call on others to join us in denouncing this action. We commend Minnesota’s Rep. Betty McCullom for her stand against Gantz’ targeting of human rights organizations and her vocal support and partnership with Defense for Children International Palestine in particular. We call Minnesota’s senators to join her and for the U.S. to end aid to Israel. The U.S. should NOT be sending almost $4 billion a year to Israel with its atrocious human rights record! \nSenator Klobuchar \n(202) 224-3244 \nEmail :  https://www.klobuchar.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/email-amy \nSenator Smith \n(202) 224-5641\nEmail:  https://www.smith.senate.gov/share-your-opinion\nPotential message: \nI am writing/calling today to express my concern about Israel’s recent action to criminalize the work of 6 Palestinian civil society organizations and your silence on this important matter.  These groups are working to defend the human rights of Palestinians and are even representing them in the International Criminal Court.  You have voted repeatedly to continue aid of almost 4 billion dollars annually to Israel and Israel is using this money to murder & oppress Palestinians.  I call on Senator ________ to join with Representatives McCullom and Omar in publicly criticizing Israel for their attack on these 6 Palestinian human rights organizations and to stop voting to fund more aid to Israel.   \n

SUMMARY:Protest: SAY NO TO THE IRON DOME!
DESCRIPTION:Protest:  SAY NO TO THE IRON DOME!\n\nWednesday\, October 20th @ 5 – 6:30 PM @ 1200 S Washington Ave\, Minneapolis\, MN 55415\n\nJoin us and demand an end to U.S. aid to Israel! Tell Senator Klobuchar to oppose the Iron Dome Supplemental Appropriations Act\, which will send Israel ANOTHER $1 billion of taxpayer money for military aid!\nThe additional $1 billion for the Iron Dome comes on top of the $3.8 billion the US already sends Israel every year\, including $500 million annually previously provided for the Iron Dome. MONEY FOR HUMAN NEEDS NOT WAR!\nThe Iron Done missile intervention system exacerbates violence against the Palestinian people – our tax dollars should not fund genocide!  We applaud the nine members of Congress who voted against it\, including Minnesota’s Rep. Ilhan Omar\, and demand Klobuchar to do the same in the Senate!  Initiated by the Anti-War Committee.

SUMMARY:#646DropTheCharges Protest and Dance Party
DESCRIPTION:#646DropTheCharges Protest and Dance Party \nSaturday. October 16th @  6 PM @ Painter Park\, 620 W 34th St\, Minneapolis \nWe will not be intimidated by the state repression of our right to protest! We will continue to fight together for all charges to be dropped!  Meet us at Painter Park (620 W 34th St\, Minneapolis) at 6 PM for a dance party/protest.  Be safe\, be visible\, wear a mask. \nBring good vibes and revolutionary spirit! \nDemands: \n1) We demand the charges be dropped for all 646+ protesters arrested on 1-94 November 4th 2020. \n2) We demand community control of the police now. We want a publicly elected Civilian Police Accountability Commission in Minneapolis. We want power back in the hands of community members; those killer cops have got to go! \n646 Explained: On November 4\, 2020 hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Minneapolis to demand justice after the murder of #GeorgeFloyd by the #MPD demanding #Trump not steal the election\, demanding a stop to police crimes\, and demanding that our elected officials be responsible to the people. As the demonstration was headed off highway 94 onto 25th Ave S (after getting on at Cedar Ave) the protesters were “kettled” by a combination of heavily armed (and maskless) local and federal police forces including the national guard. The police held protesters on the highway for 6 hours\, blocking both sides of the major highway. The community members were then piled into buses and released at random locations across the metro area\, leaving minors as far as the Mall of America. In this one night 646 peaceful protesters were charged. \nOrganized by Twin Cities Coalition for Justice for Jamar.  Endorsed by the Anti-War Committee.

SUMMARY:Deadly Exchange: Israel and U.S.
DESCRIPTION:Deadly Exchange: Israel and U.S.  \nThursday\, August 12th @ 7 PM online\nZoom: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/83334769540\nSince 2002\, thousands of US law enforcement officials have trained with Israeli military forces in the context of the “War on Terror\,” learning about Israeli methods and technologies of surveillance\, racial profiling\, and suppression of protest. As Black Lives Matter and other social movements seek accountability and an end to police violence\, why are US police departments training with occupying Israeli forces? How do we resist the militarization of police and the criminalization of US citizens and immigrants? And how is the movement for Justice in Palestine organizing for justice and real safety from the US to Palestine? Speaker Eran Efrati is the executive director of Researching the American-Israeli Alliance  (RAIA)\, and an investigative researcher into the Israeli military and arms industry. He has worked with the  International Criminal Court and participated in both independent and UN investigations into Israeli military  operations. His investigative reports have appeared in The New York Times\, The Washington Post\, and  The Guardian\, among others. He currently serves as chair of the board for Jewish Voice for Peace\, and his  research focuses on military and police partnerships between the United States and Israel.  Organized by Women Against Military Madness/End Domestic Militarism Committee and endorsed by the Anti-War Committee.

SUMMARY:PROTEST AT KLOBUCHAR'S: END AID TO ISRAEL
DESCRIPTION:PROTEST AT KLOBUCHAR’S: END AID TO ISRAEL\nThursday August 5th at 5PM\n 1200 S Washington Ave\, Minneapolis\, MN 55415\n\nIsrael is the largest recipient of U.S. foreign aid in the world. The U.S. gave $3.8 billion in aid to Israel in 2020\, most of it in military assistance. Our taxpayer dollars are being spent to kill\, terrorize\, imprison\, and threaten Palestinians.\nIsrael’s May offensive in Gaza killed at least 260 Palestinians\, including 66 children\, and caused widespread damage to infrastructure and residential areas. The UN estimates the offensive’s cost to the Gaza Strip to be $290-380 million dollars and that 62% of the population is food-insecure. Gaza is referred to as “the world’s largest open air prison” because Palestinians are trapped there without access to jobs\, clean water\, and medical supplies. We need to demand an end to the blockade of Gaza!\n\nSimilarly\, in May Israeli settlers and the Israeli government increased their efforts in the West Bank to create new settlements and to push Palestinians out of their homes in a new wave of ethnic cleansing. Israel has a long history of using force\, home demolitions and Israeli law to push Palestinians off their lands and out of their homes to establish settlements\, which the UN has declared violate international law. Palestinians are resisting ethnic cleansing and need our solidarity!\n\nMN’s Representatives McCollum and Omar are sponsoring The Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act (HR 2590) which would prevent U.S. funds from being used by Israel to oppress the Palestinian people\, take their land\, bulldoze their homes\, and numerous other actions that have undermined peace and justice. Congress has the power and the responsibility to help stop these atrocities. The Senate must put forward similar bills. Join us in calling on Senator Klobuchar to take action for Palestine!\n\nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee and American Muslims for Palestine – MN.

DESCRIPTION:Bannering: Solidarity with Cuba and Haiti \nThursday\, July 29 @5pm at Mayday Plaza in front of Mayday books near 301 Cedar Ave\, Minneapolis\, MN 55454 \nJoin us at May Day Plaza for a solidarity bannering. \nHands off Cuba!\nEnd the Embargo!\nNo troops in Haiti!\nUS out of Latin America and the Caribbean! \nCome show solidarity with the people of Cuba and Haiti who have been recently targeted by U.S. intervention attempts. In the last couple weeks U.S. media has explicitly used imagery of several protests “for freedom” to drum up support for U.S. intervention. \nCuba has been under U.S. embargo for 60 years that has specifically impacted Cuba’s ability recently to respond to import necessary medical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cuba was forced to develop their own COVID-19 vaccine\, but have had limited access to syringes. \nOn July 7th\, Haiti’s President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated by a group of Colombian and US mercenaries\, many who were trained by the U.S. at the School of the Americas. \nWe denounce these U.S. attempts to force their hand via intervention in the Caribbean. \nInitiated by the Anti-War Committee.
