SUMMARY:Palestine Bannering - Remember the Sabra & Shatila Massacre
DESCRIPTION:Palestine Bannering – Remember the Sabra & Shatila Massacre\nThursday\, September 17th @ 5pm on the Loring Park footbridge (on the side of the park near the Walker Art Center) \nOn September 16-18\, 1982\, pro-Israel militiamen murdered hundreds of Palestinian and Lebanese civilians living in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camp in Beirut\, Lebanon. The massacre was carried out at the orders of the invading Israeli army\, which had surrounded and besieged the neighborhoods before the attacks. This year on September 17\, to remember and denounce the massacre we will be bannering over I-94\, at the Loring Park footbridge at 5pm. \nThe anniversary comes on the heels of the horrific Beirut explosion of August 4\, which killed at least 180 people and crippled Lebanese infrastructure. What’s less known is that Lebanon already had been struggling under new US sanctions\, quietly imposed in June. US sanctions are contributing to Covid deaths\, inflation\, shortages and mass unemployment in the Beirut explosion aftermath. Last week\, the Trump administration discussed plans for even more sanctions on Lebanon. \nThe Sabra and Shatila Massacre reminds us that solidarity with Palestine means solidarity with Lebanon. Half a million Palestinian refugees still live in Lebanon\, where conditions remain poor. Lebanon and Palestine share an interconnected history of struggle against US-Israeli occupation. The massacre took place during Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon\, which led to Israeli occupation of Lebanon’s south until 2000. In 2006\, another Israeli invasion was repelled\, but Israel inflicted enormous harm across Lebanon with Gaza-style aerial bombings. The US has its own direct history of violence in Lebanon\, including a US military expedition in 1958\, bombing campaigns in the 1980s\, and the current sanctions regime. \nOn September 17\, join us to remember the Sabra and Shatila Massacre by demanding: \n–Right of return for Palestinian refugees to their national homeland\, Palestine\n–Immediate lifting of US sanctions on Lebanon\n–End US aid to Israel\nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee

SUMMARY:Highway Bannering: Free Palestine!
DESCRIPTION:Highway Bannering: Free Palestine!\nThursday\, August 20\, 2020 at 5 PM on I-35W in Minneapolis \nWe will be holding signs and banners on several bridges along 35-W through Minneapolis. \nThe Israeli apartheid regime continues to make land grabs in Palestine and Syria\, and has escalated tensions with neighboring Lebanon. The brutal tactics used by Israeli forces in these forced displacement campaigns have been taught to police in the US\, including the Minneapolis Police Department. \nIt is as important as ever to stand with the people of Palestine as they continue to resist Israeli occupation\, and to stand against the US government’s continued support of the Israeli apartheid state! \nSocial distancing will be maintained. Masks are required. \nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee

SUMMARY:From Minneapolis to Palestine: Resistance to Apartheid\, Occupation & Police Brutality
DESCRIPTION:From Minneapolis to Palestine: Resistance to Apartheid\, Occupation & Police Brutality\nThis event will be broadcast on Facebook Live on Thursday\, July 23\, 2020 at 7 PM – 8:30 PM Central Standard Time. \nAcross the world\, repression is worsening but the movement is growing. In the West Bank\, Israel prepares to declare its illegal settlements “annexed” and further diminish the sovereignty of the Palestinian nation. In Minneapolis\, people are rising up against police murders and anti-Black racism. \nRepression in Palestine and US cities like Minneapolis is connected by the tactics and technology Israel develops and exports to American law enforcement. But the resistance crosses borders too. Palestinians in the diaspora stand with Black victims of police violence. A global movement to free Palestine grows and gains legitimacy. \nThe Minnesota Anti-War Committee presents an online panel on the multinational resistance from Minneapolis to Palestine. \nPanelists:\nDanya Zituni is a member of US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN) and is currently based in Detroit. Previously she was a staff member in Chicago for the Arab American Action Network (AAAN) and active with USPCN in Chicago. \nTessneem Abdallah is a board member with American Muslims for Palestine MN. \nMeredith Aby-Keirstead is a founding member of the Minnesota Anti-War Committee. She travelled to Palestine in 2002 and in 2009 was one of the Anti-War 23 who were raided by the FBI in part over alleged connections to blacklisted Palestinian organizations. \nAngel Buchner is a member of TC Coalition Justice for Jamar which has been organizing as a part of the Black Lives Matter movement for 5 years. Before being in TCCJ4J Angel was an organizer with the MN Welfare Rights Committee and has been a long time supporter of the Anti-War Committee. \nThis event is organized by the Anti-War Committee with support from AMP MN\, CAIR MN\, TCCJ4J\, Justice for Isak\, USPCN\, Veterans for Peace Chapter 27 and WAMM.

SUMMARY:Days of Rage! SAY NO to Israeli theft of Palestinian Lands
DESCRIPTION:Days of Rage!  SAY NO to Israeli theft of Palestinian Lands\nFriday\, July 3rd @ 4:30-5:30 pm\nCorner of Summit and Snelling St. Paul weekly WAMM vigil\n\nJoin us for the international call for days of action to Say No to Israel’s continued theft of Palestinian land.  This annexation plan codifies the expropriation of Palestinian land and may secure Israeli sovereignty over 30% of the West Bank\, including the border with Jordan called the Jordan Valley. Over 500\,000 of these illegal settlers already live in the West Bank and Jerusalem\, and annexation is the Zionist’s way of saying that the land stolen from Palestinians to build settlements and house colonizers now officially belongs to Israel.   This plan and move by Israel would not be possible without the U.S. Both the Democrats and Republicans have allowed Israel to commit crimes against the Palestinians with impunity\, but Trump’s administration has definitely been the worst in history.\nCo-Sponsored by WAMM and the Anti-War Committee\n #Defend Palestinian Lands. #End US Aid to Israel #NotoAnnexation #FreePalestine

DESCRIPTION:ICE & Police: Stop Separating Families! Fathers Day Protest\n\nSunday\, June 21st from 2 – 4 PM @ Minnesota State Capitol\, 75 Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd\, Saint Paul\n\nThe epidemic of killer cops must end now before one more family loses a loved one. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) continues separating families at an outrageous rate and this must stop now. These are two branches from the same tree of a white supremacist ‘criminal justice’ system. Communities impacted by ICE and police must unite to win justice.Join us for a protest to call for justice. The white supremacist criminal justice system must be stopped. Please practice safe social distancing — we ask all who are able to wear a mask\, use hand sanitizer\, and keep distance from those outside your household.  Organized by the MN Immigrant Rights Action Committee.  Endorsed by the Anti-War Committee.

SUMMARY:Stand For DACA
DESCRIPTION:Stand For DACA\n\nFriday\, June 12th @ 5:30 PM outside of Senator Klobuchar’s office\, 1200 S Washington Ave\, Minneapolis\n\nWe will be marching so please plan accordingly! We will begin the march at Amy Klobauchar’s Office and march to Hennepin County Jail @ 401 S 4th Ave as the decision for DACA’s fate is unclear. SUMMARY:Al Nakba Car Rally & Parade: Say NO to US Aid to Israel! End Israeli Apartheid!
DESCRIPTION:Al Nakba Car Rally & Parade:  Say NO to US Aid to Israel! End Israeli Apartheid! \nFriday\, May 15th @ 6 pm @ parking lot at 43rd and Central Ave. in Columbia Heights (across the street from Filfillah Restaurant 4301 Central Ave NE) \nMay 15\, 1948 marks Al Nakba\, Arabic for The Catastrophe – the day Israel was declared an independent state in historic Palestine.  During the 1948 war\, at least 750\,000 Palestinians were ruthlessly attacked\, massacred\, and driven from their homes by Zionist terror groups.  In violation of international law\, these displaced people have never been allowed to return.  The year 2020 marks 72 years of U.S.-backed Israeli occupation and apartheid. \nDuring the current COVID-19 pandemic\, the Israeli government’s callous and deadly disregard for Palestinian lives is reaching new heights as it continues to deny basic medical safety equipment from getting to Palestinian hospitals\, which were already dangerously short of basic necessities like soap. And the Israeli government continues to shut off power to Gaza for huge parts of the day. \nThis is a critical moment to fight for Palestine & Palestinian rights\, and we need to keep up the pressure to demand an end to U.S. aid to Israel!  We have the opportunity to raise the demand of Free Palestine. Join us! \nWe mark Al-Nakba every year but this year we will protest under pandemic conditions and will therefore do it differently.  We will gather safely in our vehicles\, following social distancing guidelines\, to mark this important day and shed light on Israeli apartheid.  Please bring your own signs and Palestinian flags to decorate your cars.  We will gather at 43rd and Central  and then do a parade up and down Central Avenue to show our solidarity and pride in Palestine. \nSponsored by the Anti-War Committee and MN American Muslims for Palestine. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Sanctions Kill Coalition Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The Sanctions Kill Coalition Webinar \nSaturday May 9\, 2020 — 4:00 PM EST\, 3:00 PM CST \nIran Is Also Participating: \n\nVenezuela — Carlos J. Ron Martinez\, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs \nSyria — Dr. Bashar Ja’afari\, Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations \nNicaragua — Francisco O Campbell\, Nicaraguan Ambassador to the U.S. \nCuba — Ana Silvia Rodriguez Abascal\, Charge des Affaires of the Cuban Mission to the UN \nZimbabwe — Dr. Frank Guni\, Secretary for Administration\, ZANU-PF North America \nIran — Majid Takht-Ravanchi\, Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations \nThe US has imposed economic sanctions against 39 countries. In many cases\, this denies them access to medicine and medical equipment as well as access to world markets for food and other necessities. During the coronavirus crisis the US\, with the highest death count in the world\, has upped the sanctions against countries like Iran and Venezuela\, and has tried to weaponize COVID-19 to bring down governments that will not follow the dictates of Washington and Wall Street. \nThe UN has asked that sanctions be loosened during this crisis but the US has done the opposite. Many US allies have broken with them and sent medical aid to some of these countries. Now is an important time for the people in the US to come out strongly against these sanctions\, which are simply war by other means. \nFor more information: https://sanctionskill.org/

SUMMARY:Call in day: Free Palestine!
DESCRIPTION:We are no longer having a visibility bannering as part of the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network’s global week of action. Instead we will be organizing a call in day.  #GreatReturnMarch #LandDay \nOn March 30\, 1976\, Land Day marked a turning point as the first mass mobilization by Palestinians within Israel against colonialism and land theft. Israeli police shot and killed six Palestinian citizens of Israel for protesting the Israeli government’s expropriation of Palestinian land. Land Day’s significance in the Palestinian political calendar was compounded in 2018\, when hundreds were killed and thousands injured by Israeli sniper fire as Palestinians demanded their Right of Return to their stolen land with mass protests in Gaza\, called the Great March of Return. \nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee \nPlease call Sen Klobuchar at 202-224-3244 or 612-727-5220 and demand she change her position on U.S. aid to Israel. Below is a script you can use: \n“Sen Klobuchar\, we demand you support peace and justice in Palestine.  Your support for apartheid Israel undermines all efforts for justice\, and therefore peace.  The Covid-19 pandemic means even greater misery for Palestinians in the West Bank\, and the Gaza open air prison.  In response to the pandemic the Israeli government has increased the repression of Palestinians\, not addressed their health needs.  Your support for keeping the US embassy in Jerusalem\, your pledge to continue U.S. aid to Israel\, your pledge to increase support for Israel if elected president emphasizes your support for human rights atrocities by the government of Israel.  As your constituents we are disappointed that you voted for an anti-BDS (Boycott Divest Sanctions) bill which criminalizes free speech critical of Israel’s human rights abuses. As your constituents we disapprove of the way you tried to play us by saying you would not attend the 2020 AIPAC conference on 2/26 and then on 2/28 sending the conference a supportive video message. We support the Boycott\, Divest and Sanction movement and the Palestinian Right of Return!  End US Aid to Israel! End the Blockade of Gaza and other Human Rights Abuses of Palestinians!”

SUMMARY:UNAC Conference 2020
DESCRIPTION:UNAC Conference 2020:  Rise Against Militarism\, Racism and the Climate Crisis Building Power Together A National Conference\nFebruary 21-23 @ the People’s Forum 320 West 37th Street (between 8th & 9th Avenues) New York\, NY 10018 \nOrganized by the United National Antiwar Coalition (UNAC) has made great strides since its 2017 conference which was held in Richmond\, Virginia. Since that time new organizations have joined our coalition. Our members have traveled as part of delegations to Venezuela\, Ukraine\, Syria and Cuba. We have held conferences on U.S./NATO military bases in Baltimore\, Maryland and Dublin\, Ireland. We have organized against the militarization of police departments\, AFRICOM\, and punishing sanctions against other nations. Our members prevented the illegal Venezuelan coup government from taking over the Washington embassy\, while others walked picket lines with striking workers.  In 2020 we mobilize against ecocide\, white supremacist policy and war in all its forms. We gather to put the issue of peace before the voters in an election year and to protest against anti-immigrant policies. Our principles of unity will be strengthened as we gather to stop the wars at home and abroad.  The UNAC conference will be a place where we deepen that unity and build the our movement for the next stage of struggle.  FFI:  https://www.unacconference2020.org/

SUMMARY:Free Palestine: Say No to Trump's "Peace Plan"
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, January 31st @ 5pm @ the Mpls Federal Building @ 4th St and 4th Ave in downtown Minneapolis \n On 1/28 President Trump announced with Prime Minister Netanyahu their “deal of the century\,” which they admit had zero Palestinian input. In fact\, the Palestinians have rejected it already! \n Trump’s plan legitimizes Israeli settlements and steals even more Palestinian West Bank land for Israel.  Additionally\, the U.S. continues to arm Israel to the teeth despite Israel’s attacks and blockade which starves Palestinians in Jerusalem\, the West Bank\, and what has become an open air prison in Gaza. \n Join us to send a message of solidarity to Palestine\, and a strong message to Trump and all the presidential candidates that we will support the Palestinian people’s resistance to this plan in Palestine\, in the U.S.\, and everywhere else. \nCo-sponsored by the Anti-War Committee & Women Against Military Madness.
