SUMMARY:Palestine Bannering & Flyering
DESCRIPTION:Palestine Bannering & Flyering\nSaturday\, May 13th @ 1pm @ Hennepin & Lagoon in Minneapolis\nHelp us get the word out about our call in day against US aid to Israel on Al Nakba (5/15). We will need folks to hold up the banner and to pass out flyers to cars and pedestrians.\n**********************\nMay 15\, 1948 marked the establishment of the state of Israel on Palestinian land. This day is marked as “Al Nakba”\, Arabic for “The Catastrophe”. During the 1948 war\, at least 750\,000 Palestinian men\, women\, and children were ruthlessly attacked\, massacred\, and driven from their homes into refugee camps and have never been allowed to return. This is in violation of international law! Since 1948\, Israel has received more than $234 billion in U.S. aid to occupy Palestine. This does not include the $38 billion that Israel will receive in the next 10 years. 2017 marks 69 years of U.S.-backed Israeli occupation. Show your solidarity with Palestine on Al-Nakba! Say NO to U.S. aid to Israel! Organized by the Anti-War Committee.\n***********************\nAl Nakba Call in Day\nMonday\, May 15th – All Day\nOn Al Nakba\, the Catastrophe in Palestine\, call your member of Congress to speak out against US aid to Israel. To find the contact info for your member of Congress go to: https://www.callmycongress.com/.\nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee.

SUMMARY:U.S. bombs targets in Syria: Say No to U.S. War in Syria – No Escalation of the Endless Wars
DESCRIPTION:U.S. bombs targets in Syria:  Say No to U.S. War in Syria – No Escalation of the Endless Wars \nAnti-War Bannering\nSend an emergency anti-war message:\nSaturday\, April 8\, 2017\n3:00 pm – 4:00 pm\nHiawatha and Lake Street\nMinneapolis \nOn Thursday\, April 6\, the Trump Administration launched air strikes against Syria government military facilities. These strikes\, carried out in response to allegations of Syria chemical weapons use\, only make the world a more dan¬gerous place. \nU.S. military intervention is not intended to help people\, or to resolve internal conflicts of small nations in a humanitarian manner. U.S. intervention only serves the interests of the U.S. elite\, who care nothing of Syrian people or the people of the Middle East. \nThe U.S. government has carried out an endless series of wars and intervention for 14 years in Iraq\, Syria\, Yemen\, Libya\, Somalia\, Afghanistan\, Pakistan and elsewhere. This new escalation will only lead to more dead\, injured and displaced. \nJoin the Saturday\, April 8 protest to send an emergency anti-war message! \nSay NO to Endless Wars! \nInitiated by Minnesota Peace Action Coalition and endorsed by the Anti-War Committee\nFor more information 612 275-272 \nFFI:  https://www.facebook.com/events/1308210105894401/

SUMMARY:Help stop the deportation of Alejandra Hilguera! #Not1More
DESCRIPTION:We are asking community members to join us in demanding the immediate release of Alejandra Hilguera from Carver County Jail in Chaska\, Minnesota. \nOn March 7th\, 2017\, Alejandra\, an undocumented mother of four\, was detained by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) during an illegal stop. \nAlejandra was driving with the her son in law and her 10 year old son in the back seat on the way to the hospital when two unmarked vehicles pulled them over. The two officers presented no warrant and requested the ID of the mother\, despite the fact that she was not driving\, and detained her. This is an illegal stop. \nAlejandra Valdepena Hilguera is the mother of 4 children (all of whom are citizens); two are underage at 14 and 10 years old. Her 18 year old daughter is still only a senior in highschool. \nWe are demanding that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement immediately release of Alejandra and let her return to her family until her court hearing\, which has not yet been disclosed. \nOne of our primary concerns is that if Valdepena Hilguera\, as the mother of two underage children\, is deported\, these children will be placed into the child protection system. The two youngest children will be split up and unable to see each other\, their parents\, or their siblings. The 10 year old son has undiagnosed medical problems and his mother is the only one who can care for him and take him to his appointments. \nValdepena Hilguera is the primary caregiver for these children and heavily involved in raising and caring for her 3 year old granddaughter. She is the one who provides financial/emotional support for her children\, who handles their medical concerns\, and is an exceptional mother. She is the only support system that her children have. Her daughter is also concerned that\, despite being on the honor roll at her school\, she will be unable to complete high school and graduate this summer if her mother is deported. \nAdditionally\, Alejandra is diabetic and the family is not sure how the jail is handling her diabetes. The facility has given her medication\, but she is unfamiliar with it. \nMeet us in the KMART parking lot on Nicollet Ave and Lake Street Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. to demand ICE RELEASE ALEJANDRA NOW! \nIf you are unable to attend and/or wish to support Alejandra and her family financially\, donate here: https://www.youcaring.com/vanessataylor-774402

SUMMARY:No Ban No Wars Protest!
DESCRIPTION:No Ban No Wars Protest\nThursday\, March 16th @4:30pm @ US Federal Courts Building\, 300 S 4th St. Minneapolis \nPresident Donald Trump signed a revised Muslim Ban executive order on March 6th. The Minnesota Anti-War Committee will hold a protest at 4:30pm at the US Federal Courts Building (300 S 4th St\, Minneapolis) on Thursday\, March 16th\, the day the executive order will be put into effect. Although changes to the original January 27th ban include the exemption of green card holders and the removal of the indefinite ban on Syrian refugees\, we still see it as a continuation of the racist\, xenophobic\, and Islamophobic policies of the Trump administration. \nThe original executive order was defeated when thousands of people across the country protested at airports and marched through cities–including 15\,000 marching on January 31st in Minneapolis–to protest the ban. These protests prompted a federal judge in Washington state to file an injunction freezing the order\, which was upheld on appeal by the 9th Circuit. \nMake no mistake that this is still very much a Muslim Ban. Immigrants from Sudan\, Syria\, Iran\, Libya\, Somalia and Yemen will be targeted and denied entry into the U.S.\, and refugees won’t be accepted here either. It is criminal for the U.S. to bomb and attack other countries and then turn them away when the U.S. has destroyed their homelands. It is outrageous for Trump to do this while at the same time threatening Iran\, planning to expand the war in Syria\, and increasing the bombing attacks in Yemen!” \nResistance to Trump’s first month in office is unprecedented and will continue. Minnesotans will not be silent while their Somali\, Arab and Muslim neighbors are targeted by the federal government! \nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee. \n  \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1411940538836204/ \n  \n

SUMMARY:Make Racists Afraid Again! Counter-Protest the MN March 4 Trump
DESCRIPTION:Join Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and others in counter-protesting the Minnesota March 4 Trump rally at the state capitol on March 4th at noon. Meet up by the Capitol/Rice St. lightrail stop. \nThe election of Donald Trump has emboldened and energized the extreme right in this country. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center more than 1\,000 hate crimes occured in the first month after Trump’s election and a full one-third of these hate crimes made direct reference to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan. Other acts of hate-based violence made reference to his comments about sexual assault and grabbing pussies. White Supremacists are coming out of the shadows and organizing more openly. Join SDS on March 4th to send them packing\, to make racists afraid again\, by counter-protesting the Minnesota March 4 Trump. \nThe movement against Trump is gaining steam nationally with increased militance. SDS sees this increased militancy as a good thing and want to encourage this development in Minnesota too. A diversity of tactics is needed in bringing forth a better world\, and people should engage how they see fit. \n*Please bring noisemakers to help drown out the hate speech and alternative facts of the alt-right* \nMake Racists Afraid Again!\nPussy Grabs Back!\nNo Trump\, No KKK\, No Racist U.S.A.! \nEndorsing Organizations:\nThe Twin Cities Coalition for Justice (Twin Cities Coalition for Justice 4 Jamar)\nThe Minnesota Immigrants Rights Action Committee (MIRAc) No More Deportations Campaign – Minnesota\nFilipinos for Immigrant Rights in Minnesota – FIRM\nAnti-War Committee

SUMMARY:Speak Out Against Muslim Ban!
DESCRIPTION:Emergency Response Protest –\nSpeak Out Against Muslim Ban and Attacks on Immigrants \nTuesday\, January 31st -4:30 pm\nAt the Mpls Federal Building\n300 S 4th St. in Downtown Minneapolis \nJoin us to say:\nMuslims are welcome here!\nRefugees are welcome here!\nWe say NO to war and racism!\nNo Racist Walls or Wars! \nJoin the Anti-War Committee in sending a loud message of NO to President Trump and of solidarity with our immigrant sisters and brothers. Join us to speak out against anti-Muslim bigotry and war! \nOn January 25th the media reported that President Trump is circulating a draft executive order titled “Protecting the Nation from Terrorist Attacks by Foreign Nationals”. The draft order says that the U.S. will temporarily ban entries from seven majority-Muslim countries (Iraq\, Iran\, Syria\, Sudan\, Libya\, Somalia\, and Yemen) and bars all refugees from coming to the US for several months. \nIt is criminal for the U.S. to bomb and attack other countries and then turn away refugees when the U.S. has destroyed their homelands! It is outrageous for Trump to consider doing this while at the same time planning to expand the war in Iraq and Syria! \nOn 1/25 the president also issued an executive order to start building a stronger wall between the U.S. and Mexico and he is talking about issuing more executive orders attacking immigrants. Speak out against his racist foreign policy! \nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee

DESCRIPTION:Say No to the Targeting of Somali Youth: Press Conference and Demonstration\nWednesday\, November 16th @ 3:30 @ Federal Building @ 300 S 4th Street\, Minneapolis \n\nSupport the Somali youth Mohamed Farah\, Abdirahman Daud and Guled Omar\, and their families on the day the 3 will be sentenced. The three young men were convicted for being a part of a plot to travel to Syria In a nation in the grips of a post-9/11 culture of anti-Muslim bigotry. the “conspiracy” was said to involve at least 10 young Somali men (some still in their teens)\, all residents of the Twin Cities. The 3 youth refused to bow to the enormous pressure of the federal prosecutor to plead guilty to the charges and the threat of possible life sentences They put their fates in the hands of a jury. The case was built on entrapment by an FBI informant\, a sting operation set up by the FBI\, lurid videos of ISIS brutality and guilt by association. They were convicted in June by a federal jury . SUMMARY:Week of Actions: JusticeThruJamar
DESCRIPTION:Week of Actions:  JusticeThruJamar\nSunday\, November 13th – Saturday\, November 19th\nOn November 15th\, 2015\, 24-year old Jamar Clark was shot in the head within 61 seconds during an encounter with two Minneapolis police officers Schwarze and Ringgenberg. In the 18 days that followed\, community members occupied the Fourth Precinct police station in North Minneapolis\, demanding justice and calling for the prosecution of the two officers that killed Jamar Clark. One year later\, we are still calling for justice. \nHennepin County Prosecutor Mike Freeman failed to charge the killer cops. He justified his decision with a series of lies. He told the public that Jamar had been involved in a domestic violence matter the police were responding to. This is a PROVEN LIE. He claimed that Jamar was acting aggressively\, resisting arrest and trying to take an officer’s gun. But these LIES weren’t backed up by his video “evidence\,” or the accounts of two dozen Black eyewitnesses. \nEverything about this system tries to take justice out of our hands; everything about our movement aims to win back that power\, and see justice. James Clark said of his son\, “There can never be justice for Jamar\, but maybe we can win justice through Jamar.” Our hearts go out to both sides of Jamar’s family\, and all those who loved him. Thousands of people in Minneapolis and beyond have been forever changed. One year later\, join us for a week of actions\, as we still fight for Jamar Clark\, alongside all those lives stolen by police crimes against our communities. \n\nWeek of Action:\nNorthside Rally & March for #JusticeThruJamar \nSunday 11/13 @ 2pm:2pm @ Broadway & Lyndale   \nFFI:  https://www.facebook.com/events/1297896873595570/ \n \nCall-in to Mike Freeman\nMonday 11/14 ALL DAY\nFFI:   https://www.facebook.com/events/269054186823653 Candlelight vigil \n \nCandlelight vigil for #JusticeThruJamar\nTuesday 11/15 @ 5pm @  James & Plymouth https://www.facebook.com/events/601998670004093/  \n \n#FreemanFriday “Injustice to one is injustice to all”\nFriday 11/18:  Noon @ Hennepin County Government Center https://www.facebook.com/events/331401053887128/ \n \nCommunity Day \nSaturday 11/19: Noon to 4pm\, Harrison Park\, Minneapolis\nFFI:  https://www.facebook.com/events/210839102680849/ \n\nOrganized by the Twin Cities Coalition for Justice for Jamar and endorsed by the Anti-War Committee.
