SUMMARY:Make Racists Afraid Again! Counter-Protest the MN March 4 Trump
DESCRIPTION:Join Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and others in counter-protesting the Minnesota March 4 Trump rally at the state capitol on March 4th at noon. Meet up by the Capitol/Rice St. lightrail stop. \nThe election of Donald Trump has emboldened and energized the extreme right in this country. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center more than 1\,000 hate crimes occured in the first month after Trump’s election and a full one-third of these hate crimes made direct reference to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan. Other acts of hate-based violence made reference to his comments about sexual assault and grabbing pussies. White Supremacists are coming out of the shadows and organizing more openly. Join SDS on March 4th to send them packing\, to make racists afraid again\, by counter-protesting the Minnesota March 4 Trump. \nThe movement against Trump is gaining steam nationally with increased militance. SDS sees this increased militancy as a good thing and want to encourage this development in Minnesota too. A diversity of tactics is needed in bringing forth a better world\, and people should engage how they see fit. \n*Please bring noisemakers to help drown out the hate speech and alternative facts of the alt-right* \nMake Racists Afraid Again!\nPussy Grabs Back!\nNo Trump\, No KKK\, No Racist U.S.A.! \nEndorsing Organizations:\nThe Twin Cities Coalition for Justice (Twin Cities Coalition for Justice 4 Jamar)\nThe Minnesota Immigrants Rights Action Committee (MIRAc) No More Deportations Campaign – Minnesota\nFilipinos for Immigrant Rights in Minnesota – FIRM\nAnti-War Committee

SUMMARY:Speak Out Against Muslim Ban!
DESCRIPTION:Emergency Response Protest –\nSpeak Out Against Muslim Ban and Attacks on Immigrants \nTuesday\, January 31st -4:30 pm\nAt the Mpls Federal Building\n300 S 4th St. in Downtown Minneapolis \nJoin us to say:\nMuslims are welcome here!\nRefugees are welcome here!\nWe say NO to war and racism!\nNo Racist Walls or Wars! \nJoin the Anti-War Committee in sending a loud message of NO to President Trump and of solidarity with our immigrant sisters and brothers. Join us to speak out against anti-Muslim bigotry and war! \nOn January 25th the media reported that President Trump is circulating a draft executive order titled “Protecting the Nation from Terrorist Attacks by Foreign Nationals”. The draft order says that the U.S. will temporarily ban entries from seven majority-Muslim countries (Iraq\, Iran\, Syria\, Sudan\, Libya\, Somalia\, and Yemen) and bars all refugees from coming to the US for several months. \nIt is criminal for the U.S. to bomb and attack other countries and then turn away refugees when the U.S. has destroyed their homelands! It is outrageous for Trump to consider doing this while at the same time planning to expand the war in Iraq and Syria! \nOn 1/25 the president also issued an executive order to start building a stronger wall between the U.S. and Mexico and he is talking about issuing more executive orders attacking immigrants. Speak out against his racist foreign policy! \nOrganized by the Anti-War Committee

The three young men were convicted for being a part of a plot to travel to Syria In a nation in the grips of a post-9/11 culture of anti-Muslim bigotry. the “conspiracy” was said to involve at least 10 young Somali men (some still in their teens)\, all residents of the Twin Cities. The 3 youth refused to bow to the enormous pressure of the federal prosecutor to plead guilty to the charges and the threat of possible life sentences They put their fates in the hands of a jury. The case was built on entrapment by an FBI informant\, a sting operation set up by the FBI\, lurid videos of ISIS brutality and guilt by association. They were convicted in June by a federal jury . Sentencing is for the 3 will be on Wednesday\, November 16th. Mohamed Farah will appear at 9AM\, Abdirahman Daud at 11 and Guled Omar at 1 pm. Join us for a press conference and demonstration at 3:30pm to support the youth\, their families and the Somali community following Guled Omar’s sentencing. On Nov 14 and 15 also at 9 am\, 11AM and 1pm\, the 6 other youth who pled guilty will be sentenced. The court proceedings will be in the court room on the 15th floor and are open. SUMMARY:Week of Actions: JusticeThruJamar
DESCRIPTION:Week of Actions:  JusticeThruJamar\nSunday\, November 13th – Saturday\, November 19th\nOn November 15th\, 2015\, 24-year old Jamar Clark was shot in the head within 61 seconds during an encounter with two Minneapolis police officers Schwarze and Ringgenberg. In the 18 days that followed\, community members occupied the Fourth Precinct police station in North Minneapolis\, demanding justice and calling for the prosecution of the two officers that killed Jamar Clark. One year later\, we are still calling for justice. \nHennepin County Prosecutor Mike Freeman failed to charge the killer cops. He justified his decision with a series of lies. He told the public that Jamar had been involved in a domestic violence matter the police were responding to. This is a PROVEN LIE. He claimed that Jamar was acting aggressively\, resisting arrest and trying to take an officer’s gun. But these LIES weren’t backed up by his video “evidence\,” or the accounts of two dozen Black eyewitnesses. \nEverything about this system tries to take justice out of our hands; everything about our movement aims to win back that power\, and see justice. James Clark said of his son\, “There can never be justice for Jamar\, but maybe we can win justice through Jamar.” Our hearts go out to both sides of Jamar’s family\, and all those who loved him. Thousands of people in Minneapolis and beyond have been forever changed. One year later\, join us for a week of actions\, as we still fight for Jamar Clark\, alongside all those lives stolen by police crimes against our communities. \n\nWeek of Action:\nNorthside Rally & March for #JusticeThruJamar \nSunday 11/13 @ 2pm:2pm @ Broadway & Lyndale   \nFFI:  https://www.facebook.com/events/1297896873595570/ \n \nCall-in to Mike Freeman\nMonday 11/14 ALL DAY\nFFI:   https://www.facebook.com/events/269054186823653 Candlelight vigil \n \nCandlelight vigil for #JusticeThruJamar\nTuesday 11/15 @ 5pm @  James & Plymouth https://www.facebook.com/events/601998670004093/  \n \n#FreemanFriday “Injustice to one is injustice to all”\nFriday 11/18:  Noon @ Hennepin County Government Center https://www.facebook.com/events/331401053887128/ \n \nCommunity Day \nSaturday 11/19: Noon to 4pm\, Harrison Park\, Minneapolis\nFFI:  https://www.facebook.com/events/210839102680849/ \n\nOrganized by the Twin Cities Coalition for Justice for Jamar and endorsed by the Anti-War Committee.

When film director\, Emad Burnat\, flew into LA for the Academy Awards he was detained and harassed by US immigration officials. He said\, “All the Palestinians get the same treatment in our country\, in our home and in different countries. So it’s not normal for a human to be treated like this for all our lives\, or for our kids. So I am seeking for peace and for freedom for my kids. And I want them to be treated like humans\, not because we are Palestinians that we should get bad treatment or different treatment.”\nMark your calendar: The director’s brother\, Iyad Burnat\, who appears in the film\, will speak in the Twin Cities in November 17-19. DESCRIPTION:Fundraising Dinner for the Families of the 3 Entrapped Somali Youth \nSunday\, July 10th from 6-9 pm @ Safari Restaurant and Event Center\, 3010 4th Ave. S. Minneapolis \nTickets available: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/for-the-families-a-fundraiser-tickets-26053473641 \nStanding with the victims of Islamophobia means standing by the families of Guled\, Abdirahman\, and Mohamed – three young men ENTRAPPED by the government\, convicted of THOUGHT CRIMES and now facing the possibility of life in prison. These unjust convictions leave the families in dire financial circumstances. These young men are sons and grandsons\, brothers\, nephews and good friends\, but they were also breadwinners who behind bars only add to the financial burden on their families. This is a fundraiser to help with the debts these families have incurred throughout this unending tragedy. We’ll have a lovely dinner and an entertaining\, enlightening program. And we’ll raise money to help these beautiful women and their families in desperate need. We hope you’ll join us!  Organized by MN Against Islamophobia and endorsed by the Anti-War Committee. Share & RSVP on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1838721389688836\n
