HANDS OFF IRAN: TRUMP-APPROVED ISRAELI AIRSTRIKES THREATEN MORE ENDLESS WAR

Anti-War Committee statement published on June 13, 2025

Israel has begun bombing Iran. While the situation is still unclear, reports describe strikes on civilian apartment buildings in the densely-populated capital of Tehran and several other Iranian cities. People in the United States should oppose our government’s role in what could become yet another devastating, protracted war.

The attacks come after negotiations between the U.S. and Iran over Iran’s nuclear program, where Iran faced unrealistic demands and overt war threats from the Trump administration. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has claimed the US had no involvement with the airstrikes, despite clear signs of coordination with Israel in the preceding days.

For decades, Iran has been in the crosshairs of U.S. war hawks because of its opposition to U.S. and Israeli dominance over the region — including support for resistance movements in Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon and elsewhere. During his first presidency, Trump imposed “maximum pressure” sanctions on Iran’s economy, designed to make life harder for millions of ordinary Iranians.

Corporate media are calling the airstrikes “preemptive.” The reality is that Israel’s bombs are unprovoked aggression, designed to terrorize, and illegal under international law.

Just as in Gaza, Israel’s attacks on Iran could not happen without weapons and funding from the United States. The Minnesota Anti-War Committee stands in opposition to war with Iran and demands an end to the bombings along with all U.S. aid to Israel.

Hands off Iran!

End U.S. aid to Israel!

U.S. out of the Middle East!

Divest Minnesota from apartheid Israel!
