Anti-war
protesters will gather to express their opposition to President Obama’s
surge of 21,000 troops in Afghanistan on Thursday, July 23rd at 5:30 pm
in front of May Day Books at 301 Cedar Avenue South in Minneapolis.
Protestors will be bannering, chanting and handing out flyers to
encourage other Minnesotans to speak out against the war and occupation
in Afghanistan.
When the Gay Liberation Front was founded in 1969 in the aftermath of
the Stonewall Riots, it was just as important to fight against the war
in Vietnam, as it was to fight for the gay rights. In what The Advocate
called “one of the largest concentrations of gay power ever assembled,”
thousands of queers took part in antiwar protests in Washington, D.C.
and San Francisco in April 1971.
Actions will be taking place at military recruiting centers all over the Twin Cities and beyond! Our goals are to demonstrate visible opposition to the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan, expose recruiter lies, and have a direct impact on the war
by convincing potential recruits not to enlist
“Foreclose the War!” at the Anti-War Committee the action:

Lake St. & Lyndale Ave in Minneapolis

Dear Supporters,
March 19th marks the 6th anniversary of the war against Iraq, and the Obama administration is still committed to keeping most of the troops and private contractors in Iraq this year, and 50,000 troops and tens of thousands of private contractors there for years to come after the final “combat troop” pull-out in December 2010.
