Austin Dewey will give this statement of solidarity today representing the Anti-War Committee at MIRAC’s protest on 2/20/2021.

The Anti-War Committee endorses MIRAC’s 2021 campaign to end the war against immigrants. Make no mistake, this is a fully militarized war against immigrant communities.

Politicians like to paint immigration as something happening to the United States, while ignoring the centuries of destruction that the US has inflicted on North, South, and Central America as well as the rest of the world.

Neoliberal policies are enforced at gunpoint, and any community that stands up against US foreign and economic policy gets attacked by bombs, coups, death squads, election rigging, and sanctions.

After the US pillages these communities, it criminalizes those that leave looking for a better life.

These attacks don’t benefit anyone except the ultra-rich and powerful who see the suffering of others as a means to make a profit.

The real criminals are in corporate boardrooms and in Washington, not here today.

Biden has decided to continue many of Obama’s and Trump’s immigration policies, the only thing that will stop it will be the power of the people.

When we join together and show our strength, that’s when we will force Biden to end the war against immigrants.
