Remind Our Members of Congress: Israeli Settlements Are Illegal!
The Minnesota Anti-War Committee calls on its supporters to condemn the Trump administration’s refusal to recognize the illegality of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, as well as US support for recent targeted and indiscriminate killings in Gaza by Israel. Trump’s move, in flagrant contempt for the United Nations and international law, has further entrenched the United States’ status as a rogue state. The recent attacks on Gaza have killed at least 34 Palestinians, including entire families. These travesties could not take place without US support. We need to make it known that this is an issue we care about.

“I’m calling to express my disappointment and disgust in President Trump’s recent decision to endorse the illegal Israeli settlements in occupied Palestine. These settlements have been declared illegal for their over 50 years of existence by the United Nations, with the support of the vast majority in the world community. They are a violation of Palestine’s sovereignty, and bring violent oppression onto the Palestinian people.
I also condemn Israel’s recent killings in Gaza. The siege of Gaza is a murderous form of collective punishment by Israel for continued Palestinian resistance to settlement and occupation. The killings and the siege must end.
Here in the United States, I have seen how oppressive tactics developed in Palestine are deployed to oppress us here, from North Minneapolis, to Standing Rock, to the US-Mexico border. Oppression in Palestine could not be sustained without US direction and support, and we must condemn it as part of the US government’s legacy of colonialism and genocide. I urge you as my political representative to recognize the illegality of Israeli settlements and occupation, and withdraw US aid!”
