Call to action: Demand local police & sheriffs publicly pledge ‘no cooperation with ICE raids!’

 June 19-20, 2019
On June 17, President Trump again threatened terror via tweet, threatening to deport millions of immigrants starting next week. Trump tweeted: “Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States. They will be removed as fast as they come in.”
It’s probably not a coincidence that he tweeted this the day before he kicked off his re-election campaign, since his favorite campaign issue is racist attacks on immigrants. But nonetheless it’s a threat that must be taken very seriously, since he has the power to order such mass ethnic cleansing raids in our communities.
In order to carry out immigration raids, ICE usually notifies local police and/or sheriffs, who often participate in or facilitate large-scale raids. For example, ICE often requests perimeter security from local law enforcement for detainee staging areas.
We call on all law enforcement officials in Minnesota, and specifically the Minneapolis and St. Paul police chiefs and the Hennepin and Ramsey County sheriffs, make the following public pledges:
  • To refuse to participate in any ICE raids
  • To refuse to facilitate or in any way coordinate with ICE in such raids
  • To immediately inform the public if they receive notification that any ICE raids will be carried out in their jurisdiction
Contact these officials immediately with these demands and let us know what response you receive:
